Prior to joining Hand and Stone, John was a Principal at NRD Capital Management, a private equity firm, and served in senior executive management roles for several national restaurant companies including Corner Bakery Café (Roark Capital), Jersey Mike’s Subs (privately- held),and Quiznos Sub (CCMP.)

Mark Simpson is the Founder and President of People First Consulting LLC. Prior to founding People First Consulting, Mark retired from Texas Roadhouse, Inc. as the VP of Legendary People. He joined the company in 2000 and assisted in guiding the unprecedented success of Texas Roadhouse’s growth and award-winning culture. His biggest accomplishment was “not screwing up Kent Taylor’s people first culture!”. Mark’s areas of responsibility included executive, director and management staffing, benefits and compensation, field HR, employee relations, HR administration, risk management, and asset protection. Mark has 34 years of restaurant industry experience, launching his career with Piccadilly Cafeterias in 1988. He also served in senior level human resource capacities with Al Copeland Investments, Tia’s Tex-Mex, and Peasant Restaurants.
